(10/02/2000) --- STS-92 Pamela Ann Melroy pauses during inspection of the payload (behind her) in Space Shuttle Discovery’s payload bay. She and other crew members Commander Brian Duffy and Mission Specialists Koichi Wakata of Japan, Leroy Chiao, Peter J.K. “Jeff” Wisoff. Michael E. Lopez-Alegria and William S. McArthur Jr. are preparing for launch on Oct. 5, 2000. The mission is the fifth flight for the construction of the International Space Station. The payload includes the Integrated Truss Structure Z-1 and the third Pressurized Mating Adapter. During the 11-day mission, four extravehicular activities (EVAs), or space walks, are planned
